Salvaj is set in an arboretum. This is a collection of living tree species non-native to the region. It differs from a forest in that the tree species you’ll find here share a unique history. The arboretum is located in the North of Italy and has been established in the beginning of the previous century by Carlo Domenico Prandi. This passionate botanist and railway employee collected seeds from ‘exotic’ tree varieties on his travels and planted them at his property in Sale San Giovanni. This arboretum covers an area of seven hectares on a splendid mountainous landscape at about 600 meters above sea level. Basically everything you could wish for is near.
Our project has been made possible by the municipality of Sale San Giovanni, the Association Arboreto Prandi and the Anatta Foundation. We are very grateful for these partners to give us the opportunity to commit ourselves to our mission to improve our connection to the natural world.
The venue at Sale San Giovanni is located in the middle of a triangle consisting of Turin, Genoa and Nice (FR). These three cities have airports that are well connected with main European airports. All airports are at a travel distance between 1.5 and 3 hours of distance from the location, both by public transport and by car.
At 5 km distance from the location there is a train station (Ceva) that connects to Savona and Turin. We would be happy to pick you up from there.
By car the location is easily accessible, through the nearby highway and we can easily help you arrange an airport pick up service.
For our courses we always accommodate our guests near the arboretum. The area offers several option to stay for the night. For our regular courses we will accommodate our guests at a local farmhouse at a 10 minute walking distance through the forest. I town there is the possibility to stay at the recentyl renovated and modern hostel with a splendid view over the Alps.
If you have any specific requirements regarding overnight stays, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
We are active in the village Sale San Giovanni, which is situated in Northern-Italy. The village offers a rich history with its beautiful castle and the beauties of the natural world with the flourishing herb fields and the arboretum. The area is called the Langhe and it’s famous for its highly appreciated wines, truffles and hazelnuts. At close distance to the location we have the high alps and the Mediterranean Sea.
