Connecting with nature through Yoga in a unique forest
During this one week yoga retreat we focus on making a personal connection with nature through our yoga practice. Under the guidance of our experienced and inspiring teacher, Anne Verhoijsen we’ll have 5 hours of yoga sessions daily within our forest. This nature rich location offers a wonderful opportunity to retreat from the urbanised world, intensify our practice and give a natural treatment to our body & mind. We’ll provide you with healthy vegetarian & vegan food, made from local and as much as possible organic resources. In addition we’ll visit a Hindu Ashram near our location, explore the local herbal fields and be immersed in the nature rich environment of the area.

Having a busy life full of stimuli just like many others, I was eager to find a place of stillness. At Salvaj I found that place. In the middle of the forest I was surrounded by nature which allowed my mind to relax and just be in the moment. Every day we had the honor to be guided through yoga sessions by Anne, our teacher. In this way we could truly experience the healing powers of yoga, learn about our bodies and to let go of any tension. At Salvaj I reconnected with myself and nature which was a true gift to myself. I have barely had any experience with yoga before this week. Luckily, our yoga trainer Anne told us right away that yoga is not so much for the body as it is for the mind. Also, her way of teaching is very much based on a step-by- step approach aiming at eventually ending up in a technically correct position, rather than going straight for the final result which may look nice but not provide you with the full benefit of geting into the position. This way of doing yoga really gave me a confidence booster,

Where will we be?
We’ll retreat in the forest, remote from the urbanized world. Within the forest there is a wonderful old farm house. The yoga sessions will be taught both indoors and outdoors. Have a look at the pictures and explore our venue.
For your overnight stay you’ll be accommodated at an authentic historical farm. The rooms will be for two and three persons. If you desire to have a private room, please contact us to inquire about the availability and additional costs.

Anne Verhoijsen (1951) has started to practice yoga from the beginning of her thirties and has been practicing in the tradition of Iyengar ever since. Based in Amsterdam as a yoga teacher, she enjoys passing on her passion for yoga to her students in her weekly classes. This Spring of 2017 she will be studying for five weeks with renowned B.K.S. Iyengar teacher Usha Devi in Rishikesh, India . Besides her devotion to yoga practice, she works as a visual artist. (verhoijsen.com)
Thomas Albers (1984) is psychologist and naturalist. Since a few years he lives in nature rich environments in Northern-Italy. In his activities he searches to explore the connection of mankind with the natural world, because he is convinced that this is essential to our well being and the flourishing of our planet. He will take us on a number of hikes through the area where he will share his visions on nature.
